These Hands

November 16, 2016

A few days ago I posted a really great picture on Instagram of the sweet ladies who sew all these Modique dresses.  I am very proud of the fact that I could post this picture because to me it's very personal.

It's personal because up until I started this business, I didn't really care where or who made my clothes.  But once I met these ladies, and saw how hard they work every day to whip out such great items, I realized how important their jobs are.  And even though they are here in Chicago and many of our clothes in our closets are made in China, why aren't those women and men important too?  They are still people, their hands are still sewing each and every stitch on our clothes.  They are talented and they deserve our respect.

Starting my own dress line has been a crazy adventure, there's so much more to it than I could have ever imagined, but I'm passionate about creating cute comfortable dresses that everyone will feel beautiful in.  And I'm passionate about the quality.  I love being able to walk into the manufacturer and see these ladies and their smiling faces.  They are always nice and say hello to me.

So next time you put on your Modique dress, think of these ladies and how much heart and soul they put into it, and I hope it makes you smile.
