Go back in time with me to 1994, I’m a little toe-head daddy’s girl. Back then I was in love with Magic Attic and American Girl dolls so I started sewing clothes and bedding for them, and needless to say it all looked terrible. But that’s where my love for sewing started. With my mom’s help I sewed clothes for myself and my sister, and even went on to make all my sister's prom dresses. (Bless her heart for actually wearing them!)
Later on, I went to school for fashion design and loved every minute of it. A few years later, I decided to start my own dress line because I felt like the dress industry left a lot to be desired. Too many dresses are sleeveless, uncomfortable, and so revealing. I talk to so many women who say they are either cold in their office or hate sitting in a board room feeling uncomfortable with 75% of their legs showing.
This is where Modique changes things. All my designs have sleeves, and they come to the knees. I hand select my fabrics so that they look and feel exactly how I’d want them to. Then I design the pattern to fit me, that’s right, 44” hips and all. Once I’ve made a sample for myself and I’ve lived in it and perfected it, I’m ready to go into production, right here in Chicago.
My dresses are meant to be comfortable, classy, but most of all, fashionable. Go change the world ladies!
